Ru-Lav - SISLAV working group / Italy

Ru-Lav is a working group of Italian Society of Labour History (SISLAV). Taking advantage from the recent theoretical advancement of labour history, going beyond the exclusivity of the industrial wage-worker as research concept, Ru-Lav connects members of SISLAV who deal with the countryside in their research. There are various items that the group wants to discuss, includig the meaning of 'the rural'; the variety of rural workers; the fluidity and complexity of labour relations; the workers' relationship with the wider society and environment; the activism of rural workers. These problems are debated in a transnational and long-term perspective, from antiquity to the present. Moreover, the approach to these items should be multidisciplinary, through the debate with disciplines such as sociology, geography and anthropology.
