Call for Papers:
Transformation of the village spaces. Village between modernity and museum

The Journal “Balkanistic Forum” invites proposals for special issue 3/2019: Transformation of the village spaces. Village between modernity and museum. In this issue discussion focusses and explanation attempts will be searched in the following subthemes:

  • Cultural and social dynamics in historical perspective. Social engineering in village. The change of the social structures initiated by political and economic processes: politics to village –agrarian reforms, model village, collectivisation, post-socialistic transformations.
  • Village – power, suppression, freedom, emancipation.
  • Professionalization of the agrarian economy end social interfering in the village life. Theories, processes and development of villages – society and political and economic institutions in the villages.
  • Urbanization and re-urbanization. Internal migrations of the population between towns and villages. Migration models in the village regions. Migration and transformation of local communities – de-agrarian and re-agrarian processes.
  • Anthropology of village – cultural and visual anthropology, ethnology, museum researches – ‘traditional culture’ and turning village into museum: cooperation and conflicts, confidence and suspicion in village culture, ‘village-like’ in various discourses and practices. Family networks and structures: generation and gender aspects. Ideologies and propaganda of the idealized village life in various subcultures.
  • Discourses about development of village regions. Village as touristic resource.

Balkanistic Forum” is a peer reviewed academic journal, indexed by Scopus, Web of Science (ESCI), ERIH PLUS, eLibrary.ru. In electronic version it is accessible in Central and Eastern European Online Library: http://www.ceeol.com
