The challenges of Latin America Rural History
Transcending temporalities, spaces and borders
The Latin American Association of Rural History (ALAHR) has been established as an international academic organization whose interest is to promote research, teaching and dissemination of rural/agricultural history of Latin America from colonial times to the present.
With this purpose, the association convenes the First ALAHR Congress: The Challenges of Latin American Rural History. Transcending temporalities, spaces and borders, to be held in Mexico City under the joint sponsorship of the Centro de Estudios Históricos de El Colegio de México (COLMEX) and the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS). Both venues will host the congress from June 24 – 27, 2024, in hybrid mode (face-to-face and virtual). Since this is also the first meeting of the Association and the challenges for the future are many, we are especially interested in inviting researchers and students to meet in person, to engage in dialogue, and strengthen ties and networks.

Los retos de la historia rural de América Latina
Trascendiendo temporalidades, espacios y fronteras
La Asociación Latinoamericana de Historia Rural (ALAHR) se ha constituido como una organización académica internacional cuyo interés es fomentar la investigación, enseñanza y difusión de la historia rural/agraria de América Latina desde la época colonial hasta el presente.
Con ese propósito, la asociación convoca al Primer Congreso de la ALAHR: Los retos de la historia rural de América Latina. Trascendiendo temporalidades, espacios y fronteras, a realizarse en la Ciudad de México con el auspicio conjunto del Centro de Estudios Históricos de El Colegio de México (COLMEX) y del Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS). Ambas sedes albergarán el congreso entre el 24 y el 27 de junio de 2024, en modalidad híbrida (presencial y virtual). Estamos especialmente interesados en convocar a los investigadores y estudiantes a reunirnos en forma presencial, para entablar diálogos, afianzar lazos y redes, toda vez que este es además un primer encuentro de la Asociación, y los retos hacia el futuro, muchos.
