Visual History – a new publication opportunity for Video- and Photo Essays in rural history
Online Launch Event

Images play an important role in contemporary historiography. Over the past decade, numerous photographic and film sources have been collected, catalogued, and made available to researchers online. In addition, images are increasingly being used to convey historical knowledge. The fact that visual history has also established itself as an important field of research in rural history is also demonstrated by the growing number of panels on the topic of visual history at the last four Rural History Conferences of the EURHO.

To provide a publishing platform for video and photo essays by rural historians, the Archives of Rural History, in collaboration with the EURHO, the Agricultural History Society, and the European Rural History Film Association (ERHFA), have created the online portal “Visual History” (https://visualhistory.info/).

The portal will officially be launched on May 5, 2026, 6pm CET/10am EST in an online event.

The program of the event will be published soon.
